(In the end of July of 2015)
How have you been in this summer? I first of all want to let you know, Shasha and I and our Northwest Mandarin Church family are praying for you whether you are in China or in U.S.A, whether you are busy with your work or staying at home for recreation, whether you are travelling or visiting your relatives. We hope you can walk with the Lord daily. May you shower with His abundant grace!
Our Lord is worthy to be praised because He blessed us with his great mercy. In this summer, a few brothers and sisters transferred to some other cities because of school or some other reasons, including Yulong, Linshan and others. And God raised some new coworkers to serve at our church. We pray for the believers who went out from our church that they can continue to serve the Lord with their gifts in their living places. Meanwhile, we ask for wisdom, power, and gifts for our new coworkers from the Lord, so that they can please the Lord with their hearts.
We are very excited to welcome Leah – Da Jiang’s wife and Linda’s mother among us in this summer. We also want to have our special prayers for our brothers and sisters in China, including Lisa, Lucy & Shihui, Jeff & Shell, Helen’s family, and Youyou. At the end of this month, Wenling Chen (Chunli’s wife) will take her son back to OKC, Lucy & Shihui will be back, Yuanhao Huang (Guobin Huang’s first son) and Shiqian Liu (Shasha’s cousin) will come to U.S.
I preached “To Guard our Heart” in the Last Sunday of July 19th. I mentioned Romans 12: 2, “Do not confirm any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Yes, our minds need to be renewing constantly, so that we can understand God’s will and catch up with His steps. This Sunday will be the last Sunday we worship at Mezzanine–the second floor above the gym. After lunch, we will move to chapel (it is paralleled with auditorium). We will worship at Chapel on August 2nd. As far as this transition, we want to share two points.
1. Praise the Lord for His perfect preparation. Compare with Mezzanine, chapel is more solemn; it is more like a worship place. This new gathering place will provide a better environment to worship. Hope we all come on time for worship and be more devout in Him.
2. Our challenge is to grow more in quantity and quality. In the past three years, we have grown in the numbers of baptism and worship attendance, in offering, and in the degree of commitment. However, our goal is to become an autonomous church, a financially self-supported church. All outside financial supports will not end until the second half of next year of 2016. At that time, we will become a financially self-supported church totally. We are confident in the Lord that God will bless us to win more lost souls, make more disciples, and revive our church greatly.
In August and September of 2015, we ask you to pray, support and be involved in our two ministries.
First, we will have Welcome Party at pastor’s house in the evening of August 21st. Please pray for more students and visiting scholars who are eager to attend church and are willing to receive the Good News. Your talents and effort for this ministry are needed.
Second, we will celebrate our Fourth Year Anniversary on September 6th. Our plan is to have celebration in the morning, and have fellowship/ Tea Party in the afternoon. We covet your prayers! May the Lord lead our celebration! We hope everything we will do is to glory Him, and help people to experience our God more deeply.
Last of all, we can strive to grow by God’s unfailing love. “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law”(Romans 13:8) .
